Gite Rental Terms & Conditions

This page is important as it sets out your rights and what you can expect when you rent a Gite from Domaine du Sourire. Our aim is to provide a great place for you to enjoy a self catering holiday in the wonderful French countryside. We have taken great care to give a true and honest representation of our Gites on this website. However, there may be changes related to information on this website which our out of our control or not updated immediately. With that said, please read our policy below prior to booking.

Period of hire

Rental commences at 4pm on the day of arrival and terminates at 10am on the day of departure. This is important as time is required for change-over before the arrival of the next guests.

Smoking

All our Gites and surrounding grounds operate a no smoking policy. However as long as you are respectful to other guests, we permit smoking outside in your private balcony, conditional on you cleaning up any ash and waste.

Pets

In general we do not allow pets on site, due to the varying needs of our guests. However if you are taking your family pet on holiday, contact us before hand and we will see what we can do.

In all circumstances helper dogs are always welcome.

Contract

Domaine du Sourire operate short term holiday rentals in France. The contract will be entered into when Domaine du Sourire issues a confirmation e-mail or letter and will be subject to all booking conditions.

Payment

A non-refundable deposit of 30% is required within 48 hours of your  booking.

The balance will be payable 8 weeks before the commencement of the rental. Non payment of the balance on or before the due date shall be deemed as a cancellation of the contract by the client.

For bookings made less than 6 weeks before the commencement of the rental, the total fee and security deposit are payable at the time of the booking. All payments to be made by debit/credit card on our website, or by bank transfer.

Cancellation

In the event you find you need to cancel your booking, we require this to be confirmed by email. We shall endeavor to re-sell your cancelled nights. The deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. The balance (if already paid), is refundable on re-sold nights.

FOR THIS REASON WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU TAKE OUT TRAVEL INSURANCE TO COVER EVERY EVENTUALITY.

Changes to bookings

Domaine du Sourire will consider any request to change dates or Gite choice after confirmation has been issued. We do not charge an administration fee for changes

Occupancy and use of property

The number of persons occupying the property must not exceed the maximum number as shown on Domainedusourire.com. In addition to the maximum occupancy one cot per property will be made available on request. The property shall be used for personal and domestic purposes only. The property shall not be used for any commercial purpose.

Breakages or Damage

The client is required to notify Domaine du Sourire in the event of any breakages or damage caused to the property or contents. Domaine du Sourire reserves the right to demand full payment for such breakages or damage.

Care of the Property

Clients should take all reasonable care of the Gite. its contents and surrounding grounds/facilities and leave them in the same state of repair and condition as at the start of the rental. We reserve the right to invoice you for replacement or repair of any damanges beyond fair wear and tare.

Liability

Domaine du Sourire and its employees shall not be liable to the client or third parties for any accident, damage, loss, injury, expense or inconvenience which may be suffered, arise out of or in any way connected with the rental. No term of Contract is enforceable under the Contracts (Rights of the Third Parties) Act 1999 by a person who is not a party to the Contract. If the property which the client has booked becomes unavailable for some reason prior to the date of booking then Domaine du Sourire’s obligation will be to use their best efforts to offer an alternative property or the client will be reimbursed with all money paid.

Use of the Facilities

The facilities are strictly reserved for the use of clients and their immediate family and friends. Client’s guests may use the facilities only with specific approval of Domaine du Sourire and for which a charge may be made at its discretion. Any of the on site facilities may be withdrawn from use by Domaine du Sourire in the event of any circumstances which deem the facilities unsafe or present any risk to health and safety. The facilities will be withdrawn in the event of any misuse or failure to comply with rules and procedures.

Guest Safety

The Gites at Domaine du Sourire have all been developed from farm buildings and clients should be aware that not all Gites will have current safety and design features. All Gites have smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and fire blankets. Pools are either fenced or alarmed in compliance with French pool regulations.

Inventory

All Gites are equipped with equipment deemed necessary for the purpose of holiday accommodation. Cots, highchairs and stair gates are all available on request at no charge and requests should be made on the booking form prior to arrival.

Towels and Linen

All bed linen and kitchen/bath towels are supplied, with the exception of swimming/beach towels.

Heating/Electricity

Each Gite has its own independent boiler which supplies hot water and heating. This and the electricity supply are included in the rental.

Telephones

There are no phones within the Gites, but there is a mobile phone signal on site. We would therefore recommend that guests that wish to have phone contact take a mobile phone on their vacation.
